Frequently Asked Questions:

1. What is your ratio in the classroom, teachers to students?

It depends on the age of the child. In the Infant and Toddler rooms the range can be three to four children to each teacher or staff person. In the Twos classes the range starts lower and goes higher. For example, in the younger classes the range can be five to six per staff person and change to six to seven at the top end of the Twos classes. In the Threes classes the ratio is seven to eight per staff person depending on the circumstances. In the Fours and JK classes the ratio can go up to nine to ten per staff.

2. Do you have a curriculum?

We use the Creative Curriculum for the academic portion of our program and Voyages, Exploring God’s World for the Christian portion. It basically follows the calendar, such as November we will be talking about giving thanks to God and in December we will be talking about the birth of baby Jesus, and so on.

3. Do your teachers have teaching degrees?

Fortunately, many of our teachers and even assistant teachers have a four-year-degree. In order to teach in the Threes, Fours and JK classes the teacher will have a teaching degree and years of experience. In the ages of Twos and below the preference is given to teachers with a degree, but experience is the key.

4. What is a typical day like?

Typically the children will arrive and go to a classroom with others about their age to play, chat and do art work of their choosing until 9:30am. At that time they will spend three hours on academics and learning to get along in a group (socialization).  Weekly they will have Chapel, Music and Art classes. Children Three years and up will have Spanish class. After the academic time the children have lunch, nap/rest, snack and playtime, both structured and open-ended.

5. What do you do in the summer months?

During the summer we have Summer program which is a more relaxed setting with weekly topics that will enrich the child’s summer experience. We will spend time outside exploring science, nature, sports and more!

6. Do your teachers have CPR?

Our teachers have both First Aid and CPR training.
