Building New Hope Lutheran Church
Dear Friends of New Hope Lutheran Church,

I dreamed once, a long time ago, of a place where people could come together, care for each other, accept each other, help each other change, and explore what Christian faith means. This would be a place where people try as hard as they can not to judge, not to condemn, and not to discriminate. Above all this would be a place where people receive God's forgiveness in Christ and forgive one another. Real humans make mistakes that need forgiving by God and others. The community of people who make up New Hope Lutheran Church are striving to make that dream come true. Togetherness, care, acceptance, change, and the exploration of Christian faith: these are all aspects of the Christian understanding of love. Love is togetherness, care, and acceptance. Love changes us. The exploration of Christian faith is learning to love God.

All this is summed up by Jesus in John 13:33 - 34, "A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this all men will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another." If loving God, loving others, and loving yourself sounds like a meaningful life to you, come join us at New Hope.

Peace,
Pastor Charlie

I am so excited to be a part of this wonderful “family”.  Now let me tell you about my family. I have recently re-married, and I now have four lovely daughters, Meghan, age 9, Lee-Anne, age 8, Kaleigh, age 6, and Leslie, age 5. My husband is a Chaplain Assistant at Fort Lee, where we were married on Valentines Day and attend church.  I am looking forward to getting to know all of you!

Now, let me tell you about my journey to my life’s work, and my passion for educating young children in the eyes of our Lord and Savior. The Lord tells us, “I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” (Jeremiah 29:11)  This biblical quote has special meaning for me. As all of you are aware, times are extremely difficult. Many people are unemployed, and it can be extremely stressful to be placed in that situation. I know, I am speaking from experience.

I was the Director at LPA for 4 years. I loved working with children, and chose to pursue my degree in Child Development, which I received in 2007.  I had every intention of remaining at LPA, however, the best laid plans... LPA was bought out by Learning Care Group, and my location closed, much to my surprise.
I began my search for a career that would again fulfill me in all ways, working to provide a better life for our future…the children. I began working at Huntington Learning Center, hoping that I had found what I was looking for. It took a personal family crisis to make me realize that I was unhappy, and it was affecting my children to the point that I was only seeing them approximately two hours a day.

Once again, I was unemployed, looking for that perfect career. I knew that I would find what I was searching for, it would just take time. I prayed for guidance, and asked Him for help. Instantly, a feeling of peace overcame me, and I knew that somehow, everything would be alright. During this difficult time, I gathered my family, friends, and my faith around me. When I felt low, I prayed. When I felt like things would be alright, I prayed. I thanked God for all that he had given me, and I knew that He would continue to provide for me, for I am His child.

Then I found New Hope, literally! You all have truly welcomed me with open arms, and I am so excited to get to know everyone.  Please feel comfortable coming to me with any concerns that you may have, as I will do my best to meet all of your needs. Most importantly, I will love your children and do my best to ensure that they are safe, loved and well cared for while learning strong Christian values that will remain with them always! I will be available Monday and Friday from 9:30 – 6:30 and Tuesday thru Thursday from 8:00 – 5:00. My door is always open!

Thank you so much for allowing me this opportunity to welcome you all with open arms, such as you have welcomed me!

Blessings,

Danielle Chapman
